
INDIVIDUAL MUSIC LESSONS
Students 18-and-under can learn a new instrument for no cost thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County! The Kroc Center’s Music Instructors teach voice, piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, percussion, brass, woodwinds, and strings. A typical lesson is 30 minutes once per week. Lessons require active enrollment.

RHYTHM EXPLORATION
Rhythm is the foundation of all music. Join us for this interactive examination of patterns and instruments. Students engage in hands-on learning to improve timing, strengthen motor skills, and build coordination.
ages 3-5 // free!
INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO
The instrument petting zoo provides hands-on experience with a variety of musical instruments. Guided by our knowledgeable staff, participants will hold various instruments and learn how to make a sound on each one.
ages 5-8 // free!
INTRODUCTION TO INSTRUMENTS
Building on our instrument petting zoo class, students take a more in-depth look at different instruments. They learn proper techniques and play a variety of different notes. Students experience pitched and non-pitched percussion, piano, ukulele, strings, woodwinds, and brass.
ages 8-10 // free!
BEGINNING STRINGS
Using the Suzuki method, students can learn from violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Students must provide their own instrument. Students will learn fundamental skills needed to continue their development in the intermediate strings class. Students will have various performance opportunities.
ages 8+ // free!
INTERMEDIATE STRINGS
Continue building on your beginning strings skills in this audition-based course. Intermediate strings will continue to develop and extend musicianship and music literacy by developing the concepts of tone production, stylistic performance, and ensemble awareness. Develop your individual playing skills while growing as an ensemble musician using orchestral repertoire and technique study. Audition required.
