Sustenance in Your Time of Need

Cans of food on a shelf in a pantry

The Walter A. Meyer Pantry has two locations serving St. Joseph County residents who need extra help obtaining food and household items. The South Bend location is open Monday (4:00pm-7:00pm), Tuesday, and Friday (9:00am-12:00pm), the Our innovative walk-through concept assists users not only with obtaining emergency food for his or her household, but with learning to make healthy, economical decisions as well. Individuals are assigned a number of points based on household size. Each patron is able to spend his or her points in a grocery-style pantry, choosing preferred foods and household items with the assistance of a staff or volunteer.

Please bring a picture ID for all household members age 18 and over, birth certificates for all household members age 17 and under, social security cards for all household members, and proof of address.

Individuals may use the food pantry once every 30 days and no more than 6 times per year.

Food meetings are conducted with individuals who access the pantry multiple times in a year. This service helps us build relationships with our regular visitors and assess additional needs we might be able to help with.
