Respectful Service In Challenging Circumstances

It is The Salvation Army’s mission to “meet human need in His name without discrimination.” One program we offer to live this out is our Emergency Financial Assistance program. When someone in our community, regardless of his/her income, is on the brink of eviction, has received a disconnect notice for a basic utility service, or has already had that utility service disconnected, we can step in to help.

Our Case Worker works closely with the other assistance providers in the community and calls every vendor to provide not only monetary help, but clarity for our clients. In a private setting, we resolve the issue at hand – be it prompted by a house fire or layoff – and respectfully address any other issues that might exist.

By combining our assistance with other local resources and ideas, we restored or secured utilities for 240 families, prevented 31 families from eviction, and provided clothing or furniture assistance to an additional 19 families in 2010.

To receive assistance, call us on Wednesdays at 12:30 to be screened. At that point, pending qualification, we will make an appointment for you. We screen to make sure each appointment is efficient.
